The academic and professional network TH+Initiative officially announces the creation of the Applied Sciences Fund (ASF)鈥攁n institutional mechanism designed to promote the production of knowledge oriented toward real-world transformation, supported directly by the members of this global community.
Unlike traditional funding mechanisms, the ASF is structured on a solidary, self-sustaining, and redistributive model. A portion of the editorial fee paid by authors who publish through the network (equivalent to 10%) is allocated directly to the fund. In this way, each publication not only disseminates knowledge but also contributes to the emergence of new projects.
The fund will be activated upon the completion of the network鈥檚 first full editorial cycle, and each year it will support:
- Three applied research projects, selected based on their feasibility, relevance, and transformative potential.
- Three outstanding published contributions, recognized for their quality, originality, and scientific or social impact.
The ASF is not restricted to a single discipline, but rather promotes a cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary approach. Its priority areas include digital transformation, sustainable development, public governance, health, technology, strategic risk, and more鈥攁lways from a perspective that integrates the applied sciences with the social sciences and humanities.
The ASF reflects TH+Initiative鈥檚 commitment to a plural, responsible, and socially engaged science, capable of engaging with diverse regions, knowledge systems, and societal actors. It also serves as a tool to democratize access to research funding, particularly for early-career scholars, independent researchers, and those based in regions historically excluded from traditional academic support structures.
With the launch of the ASF, TH+Initiative reaffirms its founding mission: to become a network that not only connects knowledge, but also transforms it into tangible actions with real impact.
